Intermediate Mountain Bike Training

We advise that you attend the beginners course before trying the intermediate course unless you have been mountain biking for a year or so. Our intermediate training course builds on the basic skills you have learned on the beginners course. We recommend that having completed the beginners course you should try to hone the skills you have learned for a few months before immediately attending an intermediate course. This way you will have more questions to ask and will have undoubtedly have a few problem areas that you will want to address specifically.

Course Overview

  • Review and refresh beginners skills.
  • Bike setup, ergonomics and safety checks.
  • Track stands.
  • Rider positioning.
  • Bunny hops.
  • Switchbacks - Ascents - Descents.
  • Obstacle maneuvers.
  • Low level Drop-offs.
  • Question and answer sessions.

Terrain

There will be a mix of fire road and single track.

What level of fitness do I need?

Participants require a basic level of fitness. However, during the course there are frequent breaks to accommodate questions and answers. So the training day will not be too physically demanding. The intermediate course will move at a slightly quicker pace than the beginners course.

How long is the training course?

The course lasts about three hours. A distance of up to 7km will be covered.
What type of mountain bike should I use?
Good quality mountain bike with front suspension.

What should I wear?

Warm clothes, rain gear if necessary, Helmet, Gloves, Eyewear, knee and elbow guards.
